The research team led by Group Leader Takafumi Minamimoto, Senior Researcher Kei Oyama (Natl. Inst. for Quantum Science and Technology) and Professor Masahiko Takada (Kyoto University) demonstrate the distinct contributions of different orbitofrontal cortex projections to various behavioral strategies, providing new insights into the neural basis of value-based adaptive decision-making in primates.
Their findings also have potential implications for understanding certain psychiatric disorders.
